Why Was It Made?
The construction of Christ the Redeemer was proposed in 1850 by a priest, Pedro Mario, to honor Emperor Pedro ll's daughter, Princess Isabell. The statue is largest Art Deco design in recored history.

Christ the Redeemer is located in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, on the Mountian of Corcovado. The name "Corcovado" means "hunchback" in Portuguese
